Physiotherapy
Physiotherapists receive referrals from the same sources as Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists and cover the same age range 0-18 years.
Physiotherapists work with children with the following concerns:
- Children who are born with evident problems with movement of neurological origin
- Young children who are slow to develop gross motor skills such as sitting, standing, walking
- Children who have co ordination difficulties which affects physical activity
- Body in space awareness
- Organisation and sequencing movement
- Dyspraxia
- Global developmental delay
The Physiotherapist carries an initial assessment to establish the needs of the child and create a programme appropriate for that child. The programme may involve:
- Individual sessions in the clinic
- Home and/or school programmes
The Physiotherapist liaises closely with the Speech and Language Therapist and the Occupational Therapist.
